Hi.

My name is Lee, welcome to my pages. I hope we can have fun together?

When I’m not developing recipes for others, writing guest blogs, writing my own blog, or even trying to learn how to paint, I’m usually spending time with the amazing Mr G (my husband) or with my lovely daughter or my lovely son (very proud mum).

What is this all about? Great question. This site is about real cooking and baking, real recipes and real mistakes.

No filters here, (although i’d love to find a filter that can take ten years worth of laugh lines away. Just me, whats happening, and whatever cameras or phone i have to hand .

There are many things that get under my bonnet and wiggle around, one of those is food waste. If i buy ingredients specifically for a recipe, and i only need a small amount of the ingredients, i want to be able to use the rest up and not have to throw them away. My mum used to say , “Waste not Want not” is that still a saying ?

For me, waste is not just about using up all the ingredients. What about leftover food? If i’m able , i hope to give ideas as to how to use up any leftovers too.

Be Brave

Cooking isn’t hard , neither is baking, its all about being brave and being ok with making mistakes

Yes, I Said Pork Pie Soup!

Well the last few days before Christmas has been very exciting. A filming of a recipe I developed for Vale of Mowbray Pork Pie Soup , filmed at the amazing Yorkshire Dales Distillery.

This is the first time I’ve mad a cooking video for someone else, and it was such good fun. Of course it helps that I had people around me that knew what they were doing, almost as if they were professional or something!

The people who know what they are doing- not me

The people who know what they are doing- not me

When I say developed this recipe, what I should be saying is that this is a recipe I make every year after boxing day as a way of using up all the Christmas leftovers. Post Christmas over eating , pre new-year “I will eat more healthy “ resolution.

I cant be the only one who is always left with a bowlful of amazing Christmas vegetables, a turkey carcass that looks liked its been pulled backwards through the cat flap by an irate moggy and scraps of pork stuffing that aren’t quite enough to make any taste difference to your last Christmas sandwich.

If you’ve every tasted Vale of Mowbray pork pies you’ll know how good they are, but if you happen to have any leftover at the end of the Christmas festivities, Pork Pie Soup is the way to go.

The full blog is on Vale Of Mowbray web site, and the video is on Vale of Mowbray FB page. So no recipe here just a pic of soup in a mug with a pork pie wedge. Of course

Enjoy Your Sweet Life
